Urbanears Pampas headphones review: Design
The Urbanears Pampas headphones are a set of simple, but attractive listening devices, perfect for comfort and performance. There’s a range of Swedish-style colors to choose from, and each option is committed to sensational comfort.
The cushioning around the ears is padded enough that you can enjoy these headphones for a long time with no unnecessary pressure.
The Pampas Urbanears headphones are the first over-ear models from the brand, equipped with a folding design for portability, and 30 hours of battery life.
Though there’s plenty of cushioning and mesh overlays for breathability, these headphones aren’t overly fancy. If you like an understated minimalist design, this is the product for you.
The ergonomic headband on the Urbanears headphones feels quite comfortable overall, but it’s a little flimsy, so be careful not to bend it too hard when you’re collapsing your headphones to fit in your bag.
The control knob makes it easy to skip and adjust tracks too, so you don’t have to worry about things like touch controls that accidentally pause your music when you’re adjusting your hair.
Urbanears Pampas headphones review: Features
Urbanears wireless headphones, like the Pampas headset, will appeal to anyone in search of a good pair of commute or travel headphones that don’t take up too much space in your baggage.
If you’re planning on exploring the Nordic region, these extra padded headphones will keep your ears extra cozy too.
On the right outer ear section of the headphones, there’s a multi-purpose control knob, a charging port (USB-C). A subtle LED indicates the battery status of the headphones too. On the left ear cup, there’s a 3.5mm jack, for your aux cable.
You can also share music with a friend by connecting their headphones to yours — which is pretty weird, but a cool extra feature.
If you’re travelling with a partner and don’t want to use a headphone splitter, then Urbanears Pampas headphones could be the solution.
Some other fun features of these headphones include:
- Comfortable over-ear design
- 30 hours of wireless play-time
- Quick 2 hour charging
- Bluetooth 5.0
- Control knob for easy music management
- Optimized acoustics
- Instant music sharing wire
- Collapsible portable design
- High-performance drivers
Urbanears Pampas headphones review: Performance
The Pampas Urbanears headphones aren’t the most advanced headphones we’ve seen from Scandinavian brands.
You do get the latest Bluetooth connectivity with Urbanears, but there’s no smart assistant for controlling your audio with your voice, unless you use Siri.
You also don’t get any active noise cancelling.
On the plus side, everything the Pampas Urbanears wireless headphones do — they do well.
The controls feel intuitive and comfortable, with the option to push the knob up and down to change the volume. Pushing back and forth allows you to skip through songs.
Holding the control knob when you’re pushing left or right also allows you to rewind or fast-forward your music. This is a similar experience to what you get from the flagship Urbanears Plattan 2 model.
From a sound perspective, the Urbanears Pampas headphones definitely get the job done. They sound smooth and powerful, with slightly muddier bass lines than some of the products we’ve tried.
Although the Pampas headphones are decent at this price point, they won’t be the most suitable choice for a true audiophile, as there’s no option to adjust EQ either.
