One of the main things that make Scandinavian brands so appealing, is how diverse they are.

The stylish yet practical approach that Scandi brands take to their products ensure they can grab the attention and appreciation of consumers from all backgrounds.

You don’t have to be a Dane to fall in love with Georg Jensen or a Swede to love IKEA.

Bang and Olufsen is one of those Scandi brands that transcends boundaries, reaching audiophiles, tech lovers, and fashion fans alike. Whether you’re all about aesthetics, or you know your way around low and top-end, B&O has something to suit you.

Nowhere is this versatility more apparent than in the Beoplay E8 Sport earbuds.

These true-wireless headphones take all the best features of the already popular Beoplay E8s and infuse them into a more athlete-ready package. Let’s see what these headphones can do.

B&O Beoplay e8 Sport review: Design

For the most part, the Beoplay E8 Sport headphones look almost exactly the same as the traditional E8s, just with a slightly different twist. There’s a ridged grippy detail on the earbud which help you to adjust the headphone when your fingers are wet or sweaty.

There’s also a rubber coating on the wireless charging case for a sturdy grip too.

All of the metal components on these B&O Beoplay E8 sport headphones are corrosion resistant. To keep you focused on the challenge at hand, controls are touch-activated.

You can activate transparency mode, change the volume, and skip tracks with one swipe of an earbud.

For better comfort, you also get a range of accessories to customize your Beoplay E8 wireless earphones. There are four different sizes of silicone earbud to choose from, a set of Comply memory foam tips, and three sets of silicone fins.

All of these components ensure that you can get the best possible stability and grip in your ear when you exercise. The Beoplay E8 Sport version is available in three colors, including an attractive pastel turquoise shade.

According to Bang and Olufsen, every aspect of this earbud is designed to give you more control over your music, in any situation.

B&O Beoplay e8 Sport review: Features

Most of the features for the B&O Beoplay E8 Sport headphones are similar to the capabilities of the e8 latest generation — the main difference being that these are designed specifically for sport.

Like the other E8s, they’re lightweight and durable, with an ergonomic shape that fits the ear perfectly.

Thanks to recent upgrades to the E8 battery, you can enjoy up to 30 hours of life in total, so long as you have your charging case with you.

There’s also a fantastic level of sound isolation (though passive), and excellent clarity when you decide to use transparency mode to hear the outside world.

What makes these headphones particularly special, however, is their durability. Bang and Olufsen want to ensure that you feel comfortable wearing a set of $300 headphones on the treadmill.

These earbuds are therefore IP57 rated, so you don’t have to worry about any damage if you’re sweating or running in the rain.

The Beoplay E8 Sport earbuds work for any exercise, in any conditions. You can even jump into water and still use them for up to 30 minutes, provided you don’t swim too deep. Bonus features include the addition of the AptX audio codec for hi-fi-friendly performance.

For a price of around $300, features include:

  • IP57 water and dust resistance
  • Excellent playtime of up to 30 hours
  • Redesigned wireless charging case
  • Grippy coating for easy control
  • Touch controls to skip and manage tracks
  • Clear call clarity with 4 beamforming microphones
  • AptX adaptive codec
  • Passive noise cancellation
  • Easy quick pairing support
  • App for controlling your EQ
  • Bluetooth 5.1

B&O Beoplay e8 Sport review: Performance

From a performance perspective, the Beoplay E8 Sport are true masterpieces of design. They bring all of the best features of the E8 into a safer shell, so you can wear your headphones wherever you go without worrying.

Although things like touch controls can be a little annoying to use at times, the B&O headphones are intuitive enough that you feel comfortable after very little practice.

The Beoplay E8 Sport headphones also come with access to the B&O app, so you can fine-tune your sound profile to match your needs. You can also control playback and access various transparency features using the earbud surfaces.

All of this works conveniently well, although it’s a shame that there’s no voice assistant function built-in.

From a sound quality perspective, you won’t need to do much work to make these headphones sound fantastic. The midrange is beautifully clean and crisp, so you can enjoy the individual sounds and moments of each song.

The high-levels are beautifully clear, and the lower frequencies are deep and punchy, without being overwhelming.

These sporty Beoplay E8 headphones might be pricey, but like most Bang and Olufsen products, that price directly correlates to quality. These headphones are some of the best truly wireless options on the market for those who want to invest in true durability and excellent performance.
