Amazing audio is something that the Danes definitely know how to deliver. Innovators like Dali Katch and Jays Audio are quickly gaining attention for their wide range of impressive designs.
However, perhaps the best-known company in the audio market is Bang and Olufsen.
B&O has earned its position as the king of Danish audio design through years of incredible engineering.
Today, the company creates everything from convenient wireless headphones, to stunning speakers big enough to fill your entire home with sound.
The Bang and Olufsen Beoplay P2 is one of the smaller products in the company’s portfolio. This pocket-sized powerhouse is great for people who want to take style and sound quality with them wherever they go.

B&O Beoplay P2 review: Design
Bang and Olufsen is one of the most iconic Danish brands in history for a reason.
Refusing to compromise on either style or performance, B&O knows how to blend the lines between beauty and practicality. The B&O Beoplay P2 is an excellent example of this.
While the P2 might not be as attractive as larger products like the Beoplay A9, it’s one of the more appealing portable speakers we’ve seen.
The oval-shaped speaker is compact, lightweight, and available in a range of colors. There aren’t any bulky controls to get in the way of the appearance, either. Instead, buttons are hidden within the design, and included in features like shake gesture control.
You can also control your Beoplay P2 with your voice thanks to Google assistant.
Smarter than the average smart speaker, the Bang & Olufsen Beoplay P2 is a stylish and sophisticated product. There’s an app available so you can set your speaker up according to your preferences, and switch on smart assistant support.
Once you’re ready to start listening, just double-tap the speaker to access the assistant.
There are only a few colors to choose from, including a black and a white/silver version which will appeal to most tastes. However, no matter which shade you prefer, you can rest assured that you’ll get a smart speaker that stands the test of time.
B&O Beoplay P2 review: Features
The Beoplay P2 from Bang and Olufsen appeals to use on a variety of levels. First, you get an attractive and portable product that you can slip easily into your Rains coat pocket.
Secondly, you get a stunning piece of audio equipment that features some of the highest-level materials around.
The B&O Beoplay speaker also comes with a host of features that helps it to feel as intuitive and modern as possible. Gesture and voice control make you feel like you’ve stepped into the future every time you want to play a song.
All the while, dust and splash resistance means that you don’t have to worry about protecting your investment when you’re hiking through Sweden.
There may be cheaper portable speakers out there, but the Beoplay P2 provides value and quality.
For a price of around $150, features include:
- Lightweight and portable design
- Splash and dust resistance
- Built-in microphone for voice and hands-free calling
- Adonized aluminium construction
- 10 hours of playtime per charge
- Excellent Bluetooth streaming
- Gesture and voice control
- App for EQ control
Notably, unlike most portable speakers, the Beoplay P2 offers a fantastic microphone experience for when you need to answer your calls hands-free. We recorded a few voice clips and found the microphone to be good enough in most environments.
You shouldn’t have a problem getting apps like Google Assistant and Siri to understand you.

B&O Beoplay P2 review: Performance
Setting up the B&O Beoplay P2 is a straightforward process. It takes seconds to connect via Bluetooth, and there’s a dedicated Bang and Olufsen app available too.
You don’t get some of the most advanced codecs, like AptX, with this speaker, but everything works well.
The Beoplay P2 app gives you the freedom to access various bonus features, including the option to shake your device to turn off an alarm. There are also a host of presets to choose from to upgrade your music quality.
For instance, you can drag a dot on a screen to make the sound quality brighter, or warmer, depending on your preferences.
Compared to some of the other portable speakers out there, the Beoplay B2 is missing a few things, like extra-strong bass and depth.
However, that doesn’t mean that the sound quality is poor. You still get a very crisp sound that’s likely to appeal to those who like natural audio.
Remember, you can also upgrade or change the sound performance in your Bang and Olufsen app if you find anything, you’re unhappy with.
At the same time, it’s worth noting that despite its relatively small size, the B&O Beoplay P2 does surprising well at delivering great volume.
The high-performance technology within this speaker ensure that you can continue to get a good quality of sound with no distortion at any volume level.
