Urbanears are a modern, Swedish company, following in the footsteps of companies like Bang & Olufsen.
Like many Scandinavian brands, Urbanears stands out in a cluttered market for their excellent combination of sensational minimalist style, practicality, and performance.
However, unlike many modern audio companies, Urbanears also delivers the additional benefit of being affordable too.
This company is one of the most budget-friendly if you’re looking for a good combination of style and functionality.
Today, we’re going to be looking at one of the most recent sets of Urbanears wireless earphones to hit the market. The Luma earbuds are sleek, stylish, and packed full of great features.
Here’s everything you need to know before you invest.

Urbanears Luma review: Design
Scandinavian brands are masters of simple and effective design. That fact remains true for the Urbanears Luma wireless earphones.
These earbuds are similar in style to your Apple AirPods, which unfortunately also means that they’re one-size-fits-all, with no adjustable ear tips.
Unfortunately, this means that the Luma earphones aren’t particularly comfortable.
Though you might not feel great wearing these earphones for long periods of time — you’ll definitely look good.
Available in a wide selection of colors, the Urbanears Luma earbuds look and feel professionally-made, with a splash resistant IPX4 case for peace of mind.
These earphones can even block out some passive noise, so you can enjoy more clarity in your audio without having to worry about distractions from the outside world.
While there’s not much to boast about from a design perspective, these Urbanears earphones definitely showcase some fantastic Scandi style, with minimal unnecessary fluff.
Urbanears Luma review: Features
Each of the Urbanears Luma earphones comes with a set of touch-sensitive controls for managing music playback, phone calls, and so on.
They’re a little over-sensitive compared to some touch controls, so you might accidentally knock something when you’re fiddling with your hair.
The good news is that the controls are decent once you get used to them, and there’s a voice assistant available.
The Urbanears Luma earphones also feature sensors that automatically detect when you remove a headphone, helping you to pause tracks automatically.
There’s also a flip-top charging case included with your earbuds to keep with you when you’re on the go.
The case is small and lightweight, but it doesn’t tell you how much charge you have at a glance.
- Wireless charging case with up to 25 hours of battery
- 2 hour quick charging function
- Detect sensors that automatically pause music
- Convenient design fits well in most ears
- Tap to talk with touch controls
- Four microphones for crisp noise quality
- Noise-filtering passive performance
- Touch controls for music management
- Voice assistant access
- IPX4 splash resistance
Urbanears Luma review: Performance
The Urbanears Luma wireless earbuds are an impressive set of earphones for a decent price.
These fantastic earphones ensure crisp call quality with a set of four microphones, so you don’t have to worry about taking hands-free calls.
You also get the benefit up of up to 25 hours of battery life, which should be more than enough to ensure you don’t have to recharge every day.
The Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity means that linking to your smartphone or device couldn’t be simpler, and we didn’t notice any severe problems with lag or dropped audio. When it comes to sound, these earphones are pretty impressive too.
There are some issues with higher notes in orchestral compositions, but that’s the biggest issue with these in-ear earphones.
The design of the buds means that they can block out passive noise recently well, and there’s a lot of deep bass and punchy mid-level notes to strengthen your listening experience.
We were a little disappointed by the lack of an EQ app to help you make changes according to your preferences, but it’s hard to argue when you’re getting these earphones for such a good price.
