Denmark’s capital city is full of hidden gems, with acres of beautiful parks and countless streets lined with stunning architecture. It’s also home to over 8,000 Italian immigrants, which has helped shape the capital’s pizza scene into the dynamic beast it is today.

Throw in a bit of influence from New York, Scandinavia, and elsewhere, and you’ve got a selection of fantastic restaurants and takeaways with styles to meet your tastes.

In this article, we’ll reveal our favorite pizza places in Copenhagen. You’ll also discover a selection of eateries that offer food at an affordable price, plus our top tips for takeaway options. This list is in no particular order, so you can read through and go to whichever takes your fancy.

Pizzeria MaMeMi & Wine Bar, Vesterbro

Vesterbro is Copenhagen’s answer to Mecca for hipsters, and in this quarter, you’ll find countless places to eat. One of the best spots to grab delicious pizza is Pizzeria MaMeMi & Wine Bar, which is on Mysundegade and close to Enghave Plads.

MaMeMi has a good pizza selection, in addition to several options for starters and dessert. If you plan to sit down and eat, you can also try a broad range of wines.

Prices at MaMeMi are in line with what you can expect to pay when eating out at an Italian restaurant in Copenhagen. Pizzas cost between 145 and 150 DKK, and you can choose whether you want to book a table or order online.

MaMeMi is open from Wednesday to Sunday, from 18:00 to midnight each day. The kitchen closes at 23:00. To get here, you can take the metro to Enghave Plads or take the six-minute bike ride from Central Copenhagen.

Mo’s Pizza, Østerbro

If you’re looking for pizza at an affordable price and you’re not interested in going out for a meal, Mo’s Pizza in Østerbro is a pretty good takeaway option. The takeaway is on Classensgade, around three minutes from The Lakes by bike.

Mo’s Pizza has a widespread pizza selection, and the portions are pretty generous. Prices range between 62 and 84 DKK, which is pretty good for a takeaway in Copenhagen. If you want to try something else, the calzones are very good, and you’ll find both pasta and lasagna on the menu too.

Mo’s Pizza is open from 11:00 to 22:00 Monday-Friday, and 12:00-22:00 on Saturday and Sunday. You can ring them or order online, but they’ll also take your order if you head to the restaurant itself.

To get to Mo’s Pizza without a bike, you can get the train or metro to Østerport and walk for around 15 minutes.

Strand Pizza, Østerbro

If you visit the upscale district of Østerbro on a warm summer’s day, you might forget that you aren’t on vacation in Southern Europe. For another cheap place to get pizza that will definitely fit in your price range, check out Strand Pizza on Strandboulevarden.

Strand Pizza has a great pizza selection of over 40 pizzas on its menu, plus an additional six vegetarian options. Consider giving the “Dansker” a try, which is inspired by Denmark; minced beef and bacon make the cut for this one.

You’ll find classics like pizza Margherita, along with some more exciting inventions.

Strand Pizza is open from 11:00 to 21:45 Monday through Friday and 12:00 to 21:45 on Saturday and Sunday. It’s right outside Nordhavn station, so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding it.

Spuntino, Vesterbro

For the next of our favorite pizza restaurants with fresh ingredients in Denmark’s capital, we’re heading back over to Vesterbro. Spuntino is one of the undisputed best pizza places in Copenhagen, and the restaurant has a menu that changes throughout the year.

Spuntino’s menu has a wide selection of Italian starters, mains, and desserts — plus pasta and wine — to choose from. Pizza prices range between 100 DKK and 138 DKK, making it a pretty well-priced option compared to other restaurants in Copenhagen.

All of its dishes use fresh pizza dough, and olive oil is an option if you want it.

Spuntino is open from 17:30 to midnight each evening. Booking ahead at Spuntino is a good idea, and you can reserve a table online.

The quickest way to get here is by cycling up the main street on Vesterbro; both Copenhagen Central and Frederiksberg Allé stations are roughly the same distance away by foot.

Dilis, Carlsberg Byen

Carlsberg is “probably” the best-known Danish name of all time. It still has a brewery in Copenhagen. The area around it is currently being developed into an upscale district with fancy apartments and offices and several places to eat.

For authentic stone oven Italian pizza, one place worth visiting is Dilis on Ny Carlsberg Vej.

Dilis’ prices are very good for Copenhagen, ranging from 51-79 DKK. You can choose from both tomato sauce and mascarpone bases, with a wide selection of toppings available. Number 31 on the menu, which includes potatoes and olive oil alongside mozzarella, is one you should very much consider trying.

Dilis is open from 11:00 to 22:00 from Monday to Friday and 12:00 to 22:00 on weekends. To get there by public transport, Enghave Plads is a stone’s throw away.

Leo’s Pizza, Vesterbro

As you’ve probably gathered by now, Vesterbro is one of the best pizza spots in Copenhagen. Yet another establishment in this district to make our list is Leo’s Pizza, a small Italian restaurant on Vesterbrogade.

Leo’s Pizza has a good pizza selection on its menu, including fresh cheese and more. Prices are also pretty good. You can expect to pay 85-95 DKK for each dish.

If you’re having a party, you might want to consider getting the “Pizza Party” — which costs 500 DKK and is enough food for 10 people.

You’ve probably noticed that pizza delivery in Copenhagen is pretty straightforward. Leo’s Pizza has takeaway options, and you can ring to order your food if that’s easier for you.

Leo’s Pizza is open from 12:00 to 22:00 every day, except for Mondays (17:00 to 22:00). It’s a short bike ride from the city center; by public transport, the eatery is an eight-minute walk from Enghave Plads.

Neighbourhood, Vesterbro and Nørrebro

If you’re looking for organic pizza dough (and toppings) combined with good times, Neighbourhood might capture your attention. The establishment has two places to eat and drink — one on Vesterbro and the other on Nørrebro.

Neighbourhood prides itself on giving you the space to have a good time with an impressive selection of pizzas and cocktails.

Pizzas cost between 125 and 135 DKK, with vegetarian and vegan options both available. You’ll find a wide selection of flavors, with toppings including shrimp, potatoes, bacon, and much more. You can also get salads and desserts if you or your friends prefer.

As for drinks, Neighbourhood has an extensive cocktail menu — with both alcohol and alcohol-free versions available. You’ll also find craft beers, wines, and much more.

Neighbourhood is popular among Copenhageners, and both of its establishments are in vibrant areas for nightlife. As such, it’s a good idea to book ahead — and you can do this on the website.

Restaurant BÆST, Nørrebro

As Copenhagen’s most diverse quarter, you won’t find it surprising to hear that Nørrebro has several excellent places to eat from all over the world. Italian food is in high demand in these parts, and one of the best places to get your fix is BÆST.

BÆST prides itself on organic pizzas with local produce, and has won several awards. If you’re looking for the best pizza in Copenhagen, this restaurant arguably takes the top spot quite significantly. You’ll find sourdough pizza bases, a laid-back vibe, and excellent toppings.

Pizzas range from 135 to 265 DKK, making BÆST one of the pricier options on our list. Nonetheless, you won’t regret your experience.

In addition to pizza, BÆST offers brunch, coffee, and a lot more. The restaurant is open from 11:00 to 14:30 for brunch and 17:00 to 22:00 for dinner. You can get the metro to Nørrebros Runddel, from which you’ll need to walk for nine minutes.

Restaurant Surt, Carlsberg Byen

If you’re planning a night out in Copenhagen with good company, sharing some pizza slices with friends is a good starting point. Where better to do so than at Restaurant Surt, arguably the top pizzeria right in the heart of Carlsberg Byen?

Restaurant Surt has a small pizza menu, and it does each of them excellently. You’ll find both vegetarian and vegan sourdough pizzas, in addition to numerous meat-based toppings.

Prices range from 115 to 185 DKK; if you’re coming with a group of friends, you might want to consider ordering one each and splitting them between you.

At Restaurant Surt, you’ll also find a wide selection of wines — along with a couple of draft beers. We recommend getting one of the beers purely because the glasses are pretty cool.

You can book a table at Surt, while takeaway is also possible. The restaurant is open from 12:00 to 14:30 from Thursday to Saturday for lunch and 16:30 to 21:30 from Wednesday to Sunday for dinner.

To get to Restaurant Surt, get the metro to Enghave Plads; from there, it’s a 13-minute walk. Alternatively, it’s a 10-minute walk from Carlsberg station.

Forno a Legna, Frederiksberg

If you’re looking for an authentic slice of pizza with down-to-earth staff, Forna a Legna in Frederiksberg is well worth your time. This restaurant is particularly popular on a warm summer evening, when you can enjoy watching the world go by along one of the district’s main streets.

For the best affordable pizza in Copenhagen, Forno a Legna stakes a strong claim. Pizzas range from 62 to 89 DKK, and you can get both tomato and cheese bases.

If you can’t find somewhere to sit, Forno a Legna offers home delivery too. The restaurant is open from 11:00 to 22:00 daily. To get here, go to Frederiksberg metro station and exit on Falkoner Allé; walk past the shopping center and keep walking until you see the restaurant’s orange exterior.

Pizzeria Luca, Gammel Strand

The main ingredient in Copenhagen pizzas is love. At least, that’s the case at this particular restaurant.

Most of the pizzas we’ve mentioned on this list are a little outside the city center. However, you can find a couple of great restaurants in Indre By, and perhaps the best is Pizzeria Luca on Gammel Strand.

Pizzeria Luca has a significant status in not just Denmark but across the rest of the continent. The establishment has been ranked the ninth-best pizza across European countries, which is pretty impressive by any metric.

The pizzeria has put together its menus based on authentic recipes from Italian families. Pizzas typically cost between 100 and 140 DKK, putting the restaurant in line with what you’d pay in most other parts of Copenhagen. Like many we’ve listed, you can get both red and white pizzas.

In addition to Gammel Strand, Pizzeria Luca has two other establishments in the Copenhagen area — one in Kongens Lyngby and the other on Østerbro.
